Speaking after his resignation, Prakash Chik Baraik said that he had decided to step down in view of the mandate delivered by the people of West Bengal. He stated that the lack of coordination between the Central and State governments had caused considerable harm to the state over the years.
According to Baraik, West Bengal witnessed 34 years of Left Front rule followed by 15 years of TMC governance, yet there was no effective coordination between the Centre and the State during this period. He said the absence of cooperation had adversely affected the people of the state.
Baraik also praised the administrative functioning of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. He stated that he and his associates would work in accordance with the directions issued by the Chief Minister.
The former Rajya Sabha member submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and requested that it be accepted with immediate effect. In his letter, Baraik formally announced his decision to resign from the Upper House of Parliament.
He also expressed gratitude to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, the Deputy Chairman, and officials of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for the assistance and cooperation extended to him during his tenure as a member of the House.
In the resignation letter, Baraik wrote that he sincerely thanked the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and all officials of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for the support and cooperation he received throughout his term as a Rajya Sabha member.
Prakash Chik Baraik was serving as a Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal and was regarded as one of the prominent leaders of the Trinamool Congress. His resignation is being viewed as a major blow to the party, particularly at a time when the organization is facing political challenges and undergoing significant structural changes.
